The term costume jewelry dates back to early 20th century. It may reflect the use of the word "costume" to refer to what is now called a team, "for example, a business suit" handsome maroon brown velvet. "Thus, the jewelry worn with every fashion (costumes) became known as "costume jewelry." Another theory is that the term refers to the jewelry worn in productions theater.
In many cases, high-end fashion jewelry has achieved a "collection" as well as increases in value with time. There is an important market for high fashion jewelry vintage.
